PCA Photoshoot
You spent months in prep and thousands on your season. Stage photos gave you harsh lighting and a fraction of a second. A studio session captures what you actually built.
Stage Photos Never Do Your Physique Justice
You already know this. You step on a PCA stage under flat overhead lighting, hit your poses for a panel of judges, and the official photographer fires off a burst from the front row. The result is a set of images that flatten your physique, wash out your conditioning, and make months of prep look ordinary.
That's not the photographer's fault. Stage conditions are designed for judging, not photography. The lighting is functional. The backdrop is shared. The angles are fixed. You get what you get.
The gap between how you look on stage and how you look in a properly lit studio is enormous. Controlled lighting sculpts muscle, reveals separation, and brings out the detail that stage photos miss entirely. Side lighting for depth. Hard light for striations. Soft light for shape. Every setup chosen for your physique, not a generic stage.
If you've spent months dialling in your condition for a PCA qualifier or final, that physique deserves more than a thumbnail on a results page.

Why PCA Competitors Book Studio Sessions
The PCA is the largest bodybuilding federation in the UK, running 16+ shows across the country every season. That means thousands of competitors stepping on stage between April and November, most of them in the best shape of their lives, and nearly all of them walking away with nothing but stage shots and a phone full of backstage selfies.
The competitors who stand out are the ones who invest in proper imagery. Whether you're building a coaching brand, attracting sponsors, growing a social following, or simply documenting something you worked incredibly hard for, the quality of your photos determines how your physique is perceived.
Christopher Bailey has spent 18 years photographing bodybuilding and physique athletes. He's shot at 7 Mr Olympias and 7 Arnold Classics. His work has appeared in Muscle and Fitness, FLEX, Men's Health, and Men's Fitness. He understands conditioning, muscularity, and symmetry because he's spent nearly two decades making those qualities look their best on camera.
The studio is a purpose-built gym in Nottingham with lighting designed specifically for physique work. Fully equipped training floor so you can warm up, pump, and shoot in one space. Completely private. Climate controlled so you stay warm and vascular throughout.

When to Book Around Your PCA Season
Your condition has a shelf life. The physique you bring to the PCA stage is the product of months of precise nutrition, training, and peaking. Within 24 to 72 hours of your show, that condition starts to change. Water balance shifts, glycogen stores refill, and the razor-sharp detail you worked for begins to soften.
Post-show (24-72 hours): The most popular window. You've peaked, you're conditioned, and you've got a narrow opportunity before the detail fades. Book your session in advance for the days immediately after your show.
During prep (8-4 weeks out): Some competitors book a mid-prep session to document progression, create content for social media during the build-up, or test their posing in a professional setting before the stage.
Off-season: Keep your content fresh between shows. Off-season imagery works brilliantly for coaching portfolios, social media, and sponsor content when you're not in competition shape.
PCA show season runs April to November. Slots around major qualifiers fill fast, particularly post-show windows on Sundays and Mondays. If you know your show date, book your studio session at the same time as your entry.

Your Physique Peaked for a Reason
You didn't go through 16 weeks of prep, early morning cardio, and food scales at every meal just for a trophy and some stage shots. You built something. The question is whether you're going to document it properly before it changes.
Most PCA competitors look back a year later and wish they'd booked a proper photoshoot when they were in their best condition. Don't be one of them.
The studio is in Nottingham with free parking and easy access from the M1. Whether you're competing at a local qualifier or the PCA finals, the session can be timed around your show schedule.
